The Emergency Department at Royal Stoke University Hospital will no longer treat minor injuries in adults or children.

The Walk-in Centre at Haywood Hospital will be able to provide these essential services. Orthopaedic surgeons and emergency nurse practitioners from Royal Stoke Hospital will join the Haywood Walk-in Centre team to provide an enhanced service.

You do not need an appointment, but you can use the NHS 111 webiste and they will be able to book one for you if you prefer.

On-site parking, including disabled parking, is available.

Wheelchair access and disabled toilets are available.

What does the walk-in centre offer?

Our nurse-led service can treat a wide range of conditions:

  • Wounds
  • Rashes
  • Ear infections
  • Sprains and strains
  • Suspected fractures
  • Minor burns

 

What the walk-in centre can't treat

  • Head injury
  • Toothache
  • Pregnancy-related illness

We can't X-ray children under 5 years of age.

 

When to go to A&E or call 999

You should attend A&E or call 999 for serious and life-threatening conditions such as:

  • Severe bleeding
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Suspected strokes
  • Chest pains or breathing difficulties.

 

Opening hours

The Walk-in Centre is open from 7:00am to 9:30pm every day.
