Work experience opportunities at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are available to all sectors of the community. We welcome applications from any background however we do ask for Occupational Health information in order to ensure that we are able to facilitate a suitable work experience placement.
How to Apply
Work experience is a vital part of a career journey. Our programme enables young people and adults interested in a career in the NHS to be more aware of the huge range of opportunities in clinical and non-clinical areas within the NHS and our Trust.

FAQs
Work experience placements at our Trust are wide-ranging, from clinical placements either in the community or inpatient facilities to corporate placements in areas such as Human Resources, Finance and Facilities and Estates. Work experience placements are offered in a variety of flexible ways; one to two week block placements, variable days for a set number of weeks or even specialist programmes.
A DBS check is not essential when undertaking a placement at MPFT. However managers may request a copy depending on the area(s) in which you wish to gain experience. This will be actioned accordingly. We would suggest a recommendation or reference from the Form Tutor or Head of Year as a better method.
Our generic working hours for a work placement are set at 09:30 - 16:30, however we are able to work flexibly around your availability to ensure you receive the perfect experience. Placements are offered on weekdays only - weekend work is arranged under our voluntary work scheme.
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust offers work experience opportunities to students aged 14+. Corporate/admin placements are offered to students aged 14-16 and clinical placements for students aged 16+. If you would like more details please see our age restrictions document.
If undertaking a clinical placement, we ask for appropriate modest wear, i.e. smart T-shirt, smart trousers and sensible footwear. No see-through clothing, no obvious logos or writing and no loose jewellery. If undertaking a corporate placement, we ask for appropriate corporate wear, i.e. smart shirt/blouse, smart trousers/knee-length skirt and sensible footwear. When confirming your placement at MPFT, you will receive a confirmation letter which will include details regarding dress code.
If you are unable to attend because of sickness, you should inform your supervisor or the placement organisor as soon as possible and keep us informed as to the likely date of return. We may ask you for a reason (for your well-being and our auditing purposes) but this will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
We have an on-site cafe/restaurant at our main facilities. Most of our facilities are within easy reach of shops/town. Due to the vast amount of students that we accept for work experience within our organisation, we are unable to fund students for food and travel.
Yes. We ensure students receive feedback (supervisors report) when completing their placement at MPFT. We also ask students to complete an evaluation form for our records. Once receiving students' completed evaluation forms, we will send out a signed certificate via post.
