Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Also known as Urgent Response Nurses, they are a team of highly trained practitioners, all with advanced assessment skills, providing a differential diagnosis and are extended nurse prescribers. Their primary aim is to avoid unplanned admissions into secondary care by providing timely assessments, advocating a ‘right care, right place, right time’ approach where appropriate. 

There are teams of specialist Advanced Nurse Practitioners linked to Intermediate Care and the Community Intervention Service. These are highly skilled nurses that can prescribe as required and appropriate.
