MPFT is delighted to have been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to the Development and Support of Apprentices (Large Employer) Award at Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) Apprenticeship Star Awards.

NSCG’s Apprenticeship Star Awards celebrate the work of its employer partners, and were awarded during National Apprenticeships Week, 7 – 13 February 2022.

MPFT delivers apprenticeships in partnership with the NSCG and other academic establishments across the country. Apprenticeships are a great route into many NHS careers and are an invaluable means for the Trust to upskill existing staff. The Trust supports a range of clinical and non-clinical apprenticeships at a variety of levels that lead to nationally-recognised qualifications.

Head of Workforce Planning and Transformation, Angie Astley, oversees the strategic apprenticeships agenda across MPFT. Angie said: “I am thrilled that the Workforce Planning and Transformation Team have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to this very important agenda.

“We strive to make apprenticeships here at MPFT as meaningful and high quality as possible. It is important to us that our future and existing workforce are supported throughout their qualifications in order to get the most out of their studies and experience in the workplace.

“I must thank all those who provide support and guidance to our apprentices in the workplace and we thank NSCG for recognising our commitment to the development of our apprentices.”

Claire French, MPFT’s Workforce Planning and Agenda for Change Manager added: “The team and I are delighted to receive such recognition on behalf of MPFT. We know that apprenticeships help develop our staff individually but we also know how important they are in allowing our teams to provide the best service possible to our service users and patients. Here at MPFT we offer an array of apprenticeship standards which fit in all sectors of the organisation.”

MPFT’s Director of People, Alex Brett, remarked: “I want to send a personal message of thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in managing and hosting apprenticeships across the Trust for all of the fabulous work that they are doing. To be named winners of this award is a great achievement, but for an NHS Trust to have accomplished this in the middle of a pandemic, is exceptional!”
