Children, young people and families in South Staffordshire can now access a wide range of digital resources and information to support their mental health.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a team of professionals including nurses and doctors, youth workers and therapists, who offer support and advice on a wide range of emotional difficulties that young people may experience.

In order to provide accessible and useful resources for young people suffering from ill mental health, the CAMHS team have recently revamped their webpages. The project saw young people and volunteers involved in the service assisting the team to identify appropriate self-help resources, further support options and links to other local services.

Information is provided in sections dedicated to young people, parents and carers, and professionals and includes information on CAMHS services, including how to self-refer to the service and youth participation.

Claire Bailey, Managing Director of Children and Family Services for Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust who run the service said, “Childhood and adolescence can be a very difficult time, but this year is likely to prove tougher for many due to the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on our young people.

“The creation of the new CAMHS webpages means that we can provide lots of really useful information and links to practical resources in one accessible place, for the young people themselves, their family and carers or other professionals supporting them.”
