A District Nurse from Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) has received a top award from the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).

Dominic Williscroft, a District Nursing Charge Nurse based in Tamworth, is the chosen recipient of the QNI’s Philip Goodeve-Docker Memorial Prize from Keele University.

This well-regarded annual prize is awarded to the most outstanding student of the District Nurse Specialist Practice Qualification (DNSPQ) in every university in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Recipients of the prize are encouraged to develop future links with the QNI and take advantage of the range of support the charity offers.

Dominic said: “I am honoured to have been chosen from this year’s DNSPQ cohort to receive this award. It was a lovely surprise to find out that I’d won it. All of the hard work and study through these very challenging times has paid off. I thank MPFT for giving me the opportunity to study the DNSPQ to expand my knowledge and advance the care that I provide to my patients.”

Caroline Reeves, Lecturer in Adult Nursing and DNSPQ Programme Award Lead at Keele University said: “Dominic has been awarded the prize for embracing the course and the opportunities to learn, academically, personally and professionally.

“He has demonstrated great commitment, enthusiasm, resilience, personal and professional development throughout the course, sharing his learning and enthusiasm with his colleagues and team along the way. I would like to congratulate Dominic on receiving this prize and I wish him all the very best with his District Nursing career.”

Paula Wood, Professional Lead Nurse for Community Nursing at MPFT said: “It is wonderful that Dominic has received this award for the most outstanding DNSPQ student, it is truly deserved and worthy of celebration. Well done Dominic.”
